For 14 -year-old Richard Tinney of Buckhannon, every breath he takes is a victory; every bite of food is precious. Richard has cystic fibrosis. WVU Children's Hospital specialists set a complicated course of care for Richard. Despite his treatments, Richard needed to have surgery, and an infection led to a stay in intensive care.
Thanks to the specialists at WVU, Richard made it back home and is feeling fine now. His family is very grateful to WVU Children's Hospital. Richard was named the 2005 Miracle Child for WVU Children's Hospital and represented the state at national Children's Miracle Network celebrations in Washington D.C. and Orlando, FL.
